第58回日本整形外科学会骨・軟部腫瘍学術集会の開催にあたって

第58回日本整形外科学会骨・軟部腫瘍学術集会を2025年7月17日（木）・18日（金）の2日間、奈良市の奈良県コンベンションセンターおいて開催させていただきます。骨・軟部腫瘍診療は、切断術に始まり、補助化学療法の導入、患肢温存手術の開発、そして分子診断・ゲノム医療へと進歩してきましたが、その歩みは本学会を通じた多くの先達の努力により成し遂げられてきたものと思います。そのような伝統ある本会を担当させて頂く機会を賜り、日本整形外科学会会員の皆様には深く感謝申し上げます。
今回のテーマは、「啐啄同時．次世代につなぐサイエンス・パッション・アート」といたしました。「啐啄同時」ですが、「啐」は鳥の雛が卵から出ようと鳴く声、「啄」は母鳥が外から殻をつつく音で、それが同時におこり無事に雛が孵るという意から、禅宗では師匠と弟子の呼吸が一致するときに悟りが得られるまたとない好機となることを意味します。そしてサブテーマの「次世代につなぐサイエンス・パッション・アート」は、William Osler博士の「医学はサイエンスに裏付けられたアートである」の言に由来しますが、知と技を情熱でつなぐという意を込めました。
現在、ゲノム医療を中心に推し進められている個別化医療の目指すところは、最終的にはデジタル医療とアナログ医療を融合し、precision medicine（精密医療）とholistic medicine （全人的医療）が両立する‘患者中心の医療’という原点への回帰であると思います。シルクロードの終着点で、東の辺境の島国の文化と西の大きな大陸の文化が交わり、独自の文化がはぐくまれたこの国の原点ともいえる奈良の地において、骨・軟部腫瘍学のバトンが未来へとつながり、医療者のみならず患者さんにとっても有意義な学会にしたいと考えております。時代に即し、現地でもオンラインでもご参加いただけるようハイブリッド形式での運営を行ってまいります。

The 58th Annual Musculoskeletal Tumor Meeting of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association will be held at the Nara Prefectural Convention Center in Nara City for two days on July 17-18 (Thu-Fri), 2025.
The advancement of musculoskeletal tumor treatments, starting from amputation to the introduction of adjuvant chemotherapy, the development of limb-sparing surgery, and molecular diagnosis and genomic medicine has been achieved through the tremendous efforts of our predecessors through this meeting. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of members of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association for giving us the opportunity to be in charge of this meeting which has such a long tradition.
This year's theme is "Synchronicity of Science, Passion and Art to the Next Generation." Synchronicity stands for 啐啄同時 here. "啐" is the sound of a chick chirping intending to come out of the egg, and "啄" is the sound of a mother bird pecking at the shell from the outside, and when both occur “at the same time” (“同時“), the chick hatches safely. In Zen Buddhism, this word means that enlightenment can be attained when the thoughts of the master and the disciple are in unison. The sub-theme of "Science, Passion and Art to the Next Generation" is derived from Dr. William Osler's words, "Medicine is an art backed by science.", and what connects the science to the art would be our passion.
The goal of current personalized medicine such as genome-based medicine, is ultimately to achieve "patient-centered medicine", where precision and holistic medicine should be compatible through the integration of digital and analog medicine.
Nara, the terminus of the Silk Road and the origin of this country, has been nurtured our own unique cultures through intersecting the cultures of both the small archipelago nation in far-east and the vast and mighty nations in the west. I hope this meeting will lead the baton of musculoskeletal oncology to the future generation here in Nara, and will be meaningful for not only medical professionals but also for patients. To meet the needs of the times, we will operate this meeting in a hybrid format so that you can participate both on-site as well as on-line. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
